My Philosophy of Education
By Marlena McClain Every student deserves a good education so that he, she or they may become a productive and happy adult. I feel this can be achieved through a solid through foundation of artistic expression, providing a solid technical skill set, enrichment of providing many variables to a cultural outlook, and applied experimentation to foster their own ideals of artistic expression. I believe I would offer students practical and encouragement in their creative pursuits and my support will allow them to test out various practices in a safe space, which will help give them life coping mechanisms they may or may not receive in their home environment. Because all students come at different levels and skill sets, I will address each student accordingly with various kinds of approaches. Each student should be accepted where he, she or they are. Having a strong foundation in the arts can advance abilities of communication and problem solving, which will help students connect the dots of a greater picture, provide alternatives when they may feel stuck in life and become more well-rounded adults. It is my personal belief that art and creative expression fosters positivity, critical thinking, that can lead to positive advancements in social discourse, and advancements communities globally. I will provide such opportunities, skills, techniques and knowledge from my personal life experience that will guide each student to develop to their maximum growth. Through my guidance, all students may develop a more joyful approach to life, aiding problem solving and wisdom with challenges that may lay ahead. Students may develop a general appreciation for the arts, culture, peace, community and various philosophies, which may prosper with a more diverse understanding of the world around them. As all people are different, what is true for a student may be based on personal life experiences, books, what their parents dictate. I do believe, when students are open minded, willing to fail a little in order to learn from their mistakes, it allows the process of experimentation which opens the gates of freedom, so they can then develop their own perspective and develop self-esteem vs relying on others false truths.
